Travel Made Simple, and Meaningful

With Engine, you can book hotels, flights, and rental cars all in one place—saving time, cutting costs, and unlocking exclusive rates. Even better? Every trip you take through Engine helps support Utah’s nonprofits. That means when you book your next conference, site visit, or weekend getaway, portion of proceeds from your reservation directly supports Utah nonprofits, helping strengthen the organizations that keep our communities thriving. Travel doesn’t just get you where you’re going—it gives back to the community you care about. Keep an Eye Out!

We'll be launching our new Compensation and Benefits survey soon, for an updated Comp & Benefits report to be released early next year. UNA members who take the survey will receive the final report for free.

Do You Serve New Americans in the Salt Lake Area?

The Future Citizens PATH program is a pilot open to eligible folks (green card holders) who live within Salt Lake City limits and seek support with the U.S. citizenship process. This free program aims to make the naturalization process more accessible by providing legal help throughout the application process, grants to cover the application fee and citizenship classes. Contact newamericans@slc.gov for additional resources, including program flyers in Spanish, Somali, Chinese, and Arabic.

National Donor Advised Fund Day | October 9

A donor-advised fund, or DAF, is a giving account established at a public charity. The 501(c)(3) public charity serves as a “sponsoring organization,” which manages and administers individual DAF accounts. DAF accounts allow donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction and then recommend grants from the fund over time. Donors can contribute to the fund as frequently as they like, and then recommend grants to their favorite charitable organizations whenever it makes sense for them. This allows donors to give when they can, then grant when it’s needed.

National DAF Day is promoted by the company Chariot and supported by many nonprofit organizations, DAF providers, and donors, with a goal to educate people about DAFs, encourage more DAF-based philanthropy, and provide resources to facilitate giving. DAFs are powerful and popular giving tools that can help connect donors with the causes that matter most to them.

If you have a DAF, make a contribution to a cause that matters on October 9. If you're a nonprofit, learn how DAF giving can support your mission.

2nd Annual Good4Utah Family Health Fair

ABC4-CW30 and Good Things Utah are gearing up for their 2nd Annual Good4Utah Family Health Fair on Saturday, October 18, 2025 - hosted in their beautiful Good4Utah Backyard just outside their Salt Lake City Studio. The event will run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with a blood donation drive hosted by The Red Cross from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

This year's presenting sponsor is Solis Mammography – very fitting for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Health Fair is free to participate and free to attend. Attendees are encouraged to bring the kids in their Halloween Costumes for Trick or Treating.

Update from Candid

In the interest of transparency, Candid has reached out to inform us that there may have been an erroneous alert on Candid's profiles regarding nonprofit status on September 25. This was caused by an internal error during a routine data update. They resolved the issue within hours, but wanted to make you aware that profiles viewed or downloaded on the 25th may have included the erroneous alert. Candid has already proactively contacted paid customers of the newly launched Candid platform who may have seen the alert, as well as nonprofits whose profiles were viewed.

Candid takes their responsibility to provide the sector's highest quality, most accurate data seriously. They regret this error and apologize for any concern it may have caused.

Advocacy

Nonprofits Don’t Have Big, Corporate PACs or Deep Lobbying Pockets—but We Do Have Each Other

Advocacy is how we protect our missions, secure resources, and push back against harmful policies. But this work doesn’t happen on its own. It’s powered by people like you.

Your support and membership fuels our ability to monitor legislation, mobilize quickly, and ensure nonprofits are heard—whether at the Capitol in Salt Lake City or on Capitol Hill in Washington.

🙏 If you're already a member—thank you!

👉 Not a member? Join UNA today—because advocacy isn’t free, but it’s worth every ounce of support.

👉 Not a Nonprofit? Donate to UNA—support the sector with your donation.
